Why subscribe?

I like to read. You like to read. Let’s become best friends!

I’ve set my weekly newsletter to $5 a month - a pittance that represents the most I could ask of you, dear readers. I’d encourage you to subscribe.

We are entering an era of relative illiteracy. This has been said again and again for centuries - I suspect the ancient Romans were complaining their kids were playing with wheeled toys rather than unrolling a good scroll - but think about it: media is currently overwhelmed by images and video and the written word is not valued.

I value the written word, to be clear. I love it. It’s of vital importance to me. That’s why I try to read dozens of books a month. And that’s why I made this mailing list.

If you agree, I’d love your support. I’ll use the money to buy new books. I have a job and I don’t have a lot of time but if folks are interested I’m happy to share my thoughts on writing, tech, and the future.
